“Qiaoyue (Crystal) Zhao has been a teacher at the Young Conservatorium, Elder Conservatorium of Music for a number of years.

During her time here, Crystal has taught students aged between six and 11 years of age, individually as well as in groups of up to five students.

In addition to her instrumental teaching, Crystal has also been involved in Daicroze Eurhythmics, which is the methodology by which we teach the concepts of musicianship. Crystal has actively participated tn classes and attended conferences to further her own knowledge and training.

Crystai is a wonderful teacher Mho is warm, enthusiastic and sensitive to her students’ needs. Crystal’s polite, friendly and hard-working manner makes her very easy to work with and respected by her peers.”

“I met Cindy at the beginning of 2012 when she commenced teaching our then 6 old son, Timothy Martin, the piano. She instructed Tim for a total of 12 months.

Tim began with no previous experience of playing piano and by the end of 4 terms he was able to confidently accompany Cindy in playing at the end of year concert to the family and friends of the Programme. For us it was a highlight of the remarkable ability that Cindy had in connecting with Tim and enabling him to advance at such a rapid and competent manner.

I was fortunate to attend many of Cindy’s weekly lessons with Tim and observe her outstanding talent both as a musician and as a teacher. At the very first lesson she immediately connected with Tim in a delightful manner. She demonstrated passion for the piano, clarity in what she instructed, how the lessons would progress and also what she expected of Tim. Tim enjoys learning but the interest she created within him from the very first piano lesson was remarkable.

Her care and genuine interest in Tim’s progress continued throughout the year and we were delighted by the subsequent results.”

I have known Johnny for over 2 years as a parent of a student. It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend Johnny as a piano teacher.

My child followed a range of piano instruction with Johnny over this period, from beginner group lessons to individual private lessons, and progressed from entry level to successfully passing the AMEB* Piano Grade 4 Exam. My child thoroughly enjoyed these piano studies with Johnny, having continually requested to continue as his student for the duration cf the Young Conservatorium tuition.

Johnny is a very conscientious, caring and dedicated teacher. He rigorously addressed the many aspects of the piano: technical work, musical expression and detail, music theory and history, performance and exam preparation. Johnny’s personal performance experience and ongoing piano and music studies have further contributed to the depth of his teaching.

“I’ve always wanted to learn how to play piano but could never find the time or the motivation, especially when I was younger. SPS’ teaching methodology was what drew me in and gave me the confidence to start, even at 35. I would thoroughly recommend this school to anyone. 2 thumbs up!”

“I cannot stop telling my friends about the Sydney Piano School! Everything from the teachers to the way they teach is remarkable – I’ve never experienced anything like it. It used to be a daily struggle to get my 5 year old to sit still and concentrate in a lesson, let alone 15 minute practice everyday. Now Jordan loves his lessons and can’t wait to go each week! I can hardly believe it.”

Jenny, Castle Hill

“The amount of progress Lily made in such a short time is just absolutely remarkable. The once sad piano passed down by my grandmother, gathering dust in the garage, now sits proudly in our living room. My husband and I love sitting down to hear our daughter play her new piece every Sunday night after dinner, it’s become a new ritual for the family. Sydney Piano School’s ability to spark the enthusiasm in Lily is simply amazing.”

“Both my son and my daughter have gone through a countless number of piano teachers, all quitting after a few weeks (maybe a whole month if I’m lucky!). My perseverance was wearing thin, so I made sure I did all my research before deciding to enrol my kids at the SPS. I can safely say we won’t be switching again. They love their teacher!”

“After speaking with some other parents, I’ve found that the teachers do a really good job of understanding how each student learns and responds to different music. Sitting in on my son’s lessons I can see that each one is tailored for his learning style, ability and taste in music. I had never heard of pedagogy before but it definitely works. Now he is interested and excited to play. Money well spent.”
